Let's talk money and adoption--why DOES it cost so much?

You have to wonder if APs get an itemized statement/receipt....showing just exactly how $30,000 was applied to adoption costs by either an adoption agency or an adoption attorney. Do APs receive such a statement...if they don't, do APs demand an itemized statement? If they don't demand/request an itemized statement/receipt...why don't they want one?
