House broken into...IMAC, Ipod and Jewelry were stolen.?

On October 15, 2009 my house was broken into they stole our IMac, Ipod and Jewelry. The cops came did a report and no fingerprints were found just footprints of two people with small feet which jumped over the fence to a empty new house next door. Well Apple can't do anything unless the cops call them and give them all the computers numbers which we do have. But anyways today while I was at home I heard the voice of a male outside my window, I looked outside saw the male talking to people; I think the driver was a female, inside a Red 2 door Honda Civic, then he jumped the fence into the empty houses the Honda pulled around the block I got a pen and got the plates: California Plate 6COX990 Or 6CCY990; I wrote it fast I couldn't understand those letter but it is a red Honda Civic. I called 911 gave all them all the info and told them about our house being broken into. I have not heard back from them. So I'm wondering do the cops check the plates and go to the house where they belong? It's weird I see this guy jumping walls with a female driver two weeks after my home is broken into. Could I find more information on the plates?? Are the cops going to to do anything with this info?? Can someone please help all my pictures where on that computer and it makes me sick some losers are using it!! Thanks
